Verbs followed by gerund penjelasan secara detail.

Gerund adalah bentuk kata kerja yang digunakan sebagai kata benda dalam kalimat. Dalam Bahasa Inggris, kita sering menggunakan kata kerja yang diikuti oleh gerund. Berikut adalah beberapa kata kerja umum yang diikuti oleh gerund beserta contoh dan latihan untuk mempraktikkannya:

1. Swim: Gerund berfungsi sebagai subjek dalam kalimat. Contoh:

   • “Swimming isn’t my hobby, it’s yours.” (Berrenang bukanlah hobi saya, itu milikmu.) 

2. Quit: Gerund diletakkan setelah kata kerja tertentu. Contoh:

   • “My father quit smoking since two years ago.” (Ayah saya berhenti merokok dua tahun yang lalu.) 

3. Suggest: Gerund diletakkan setelah kata kerja tertentu. Contoh:

   • “My mother suggests me going into business after seeing my father’s success.” (Ibu saya menyarankan saya untuk terjun ke bisnis setelah melihat kesuksesan ayah saya.) 

4. Postpone: Gerund diletakkan setelah kata kerja tertentu. Contoh:

   • “Our teacher postpones giving us the homework because she has things to do.” (Guru kami menunda memberikan tugas karena ada urusan lain.) 

5. Practice: Gerund diletakkan setelah kata kerja tertentu. Contoh:

   • “My mom asked me to practice speaking Japanese in front of her yesterday.” (Ibu saya meminta saya berlatih berbicara bahasa Jepang di depannya kemarin.) 

6. Without: Gerund diletakkan setelah kata depan (preposition). Contoh:

   • “My little brother ate without praying. That’s why our parents were mad at him.” (Adik laki-laki saya makan tanpa berdoa. Itulah sebabnya orang tua kami marah padanya.) 

7. Like: Gerund diletakkan setelah kata kerja tertentu. Contoh:

   • “She doesn’t like watching horror movies. So, how about watching the romance one?” (Dia tidak suka menonton film horor. Bagaimana dengan menonton yang romantis?) ¹

8. Avoid: Gerund diletakkan setelah kata kerja tertentu. Contoh:

   • “Their leaving is my wish because I always avoided meeting them when they were here.” (Kepergian mereka adalah keinginanku karena aku selalu menghindari bertemu dengan mereka saat mereka di sini.) 

9. Look forward to: Gerund diletakkan setelah kata kerja tertentu. Contoh:

   • “I am looking forward to Bara’s coming. I am just so missing him.” (Aku menantikan kedatangan Bara. Aku sangat merindukannya.) 

10. Pray for: Gerund diletakkan setelah kata kerja tertentu. Contoh:

    • “Jordan’s family always fights with that family. Every day Jordan is praying for his neighbor’s leaving.” (Keluarga Jordan selalu bertengkar dengan keluarga itu. Setiap hari Jordan berdoa agar tetangganya pergi.)
